What makes us different? Why should you be our guest this week?
We are still very much a new church that is laser focused on the vision that God has given us as a church. Most churches subconsciously target "church" people. At DC, we want to build a church for those unchurched individuals and families. We love DeArmanville, Anniston, Oxford, Heflin, and our surrounding communities! And whereas many churches focus on one generation, we pride ourself in being a multi-generational church! What makes us most different is the obvious culture of love within the church. People actually like each other and guests feel welcome into the environment! Put us to the test. Be our guest this Sunday at 10:30 AM for Worship Celebration and 9:00 AM for Small Groups. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
The “Hall of Fame of Faith” is a unique reading of most of the prominent Old Testament heroes. With a few surprises, it is a “Who’s Who” of the ancient Scriptures. The author of Hebrews makes a noticeably clear distinction about faith, however, from the perspective of the Old Covenant. Faith for these heroes was FORWARD FOCUSED. None of these figures knew specifically of Jesus’ mission in life, death, and resurrection. However, they trusted God that His redemptive plan was to be completed. We get the benefit of being on the other side of history, knowing the full work of Jesus. So, our faith is both PAST DEFINED and FORWARD FOCUSED. In other words, we believe because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, and we anticipate a future that is finally as God intended in to be when Creation began. Faith is a living, breathing trust so ingrained that we do not have to see the details because we whole-heartedly believe in God who is sovereign over the details.
